Curly ends on locs has become more popular everyday and people all over are trying to figure out how to achieve this unique look. Here’s 3 tips to get and maintain curly ends on locs.
#1. Having The Hair Type
The quickest and obvious way to get curly ends on locs is to already have the hair type. Hair types 3a-4b are the main types that tend to stay with curly ends. When starting your locs with these hair types, you’d simply want to coil the end of your starter loc until you make a spiral curl. This will ensure your ends will have a nice defined curl at the ends. To maintain these curls, you’ll need to make sure your locs stay moisturized by spritzing them daily or 3 times a week.
Overtime some curls may loc up completely due to them maturing. To combat that, follow tip #2.
#2 Combing Out Your Ends
This method has become very popular over the recent years to achieve curly ends. It requires you to take a rattail comb, water, and product, and gently comb out the ends of your locs to your desired curl length. You’ll then maintain that loose hair with a curl defining product, my favorite is Taliah Waajid Green Apple & Aloe Curl Definer.
As a loctican, I personally do not recommend this method because it may thin out your ends overtime by constantly combing them. Although the look of curly ends is very aesthetically pleasing, is it worth damaging your locs over? If you don’t want to take the chance at damaging, try out tip #3.
#3. Loc Extensions With Curly Ends
Loc extensions gives you a variety of locs to choose from. Whether it’s colored locs, 24 inch locs, or in this instance, locs with curly ends, you have the option to choose whatever look you’re going for from the jump. If you truly want the curly ends immediately, loc extensions would be your best option.
There are 2 main hair types of loc extensions; Synthetic & Human hair.
To achieve the most natural look, human hair is what you should go with. This curl will last longer, is soft to the touch, and you’ll be able to use actual hair products on it.
